Calenia Energia had been committed to a complete and detailed evaluation of the venture before constructing the plant, which had taken into consideration multiple aspects: the impact on the surrounding area, the distribution of the residing population, the presence of other industrial sites, or emission sources and the road access as well as the presence of potential architectural and landscape barriers.
From the analysis of the data gathered, the disused industrial area "ex-Pozzi" in Sparanise was chosen as the most suitable location to use as a production site, given its "brown field" characteristics, thereby allowing a plant to be built in an industrial area without taking away any agricultural land.
