Calenia Energia SpA (85% Axpo Group, 15% Hera Group) is the company which built and is currently running the thermal power plant with 760 MW of power, situated in the Sparanise council area, in the province of Caserta.
The plant uses combined cycle technology, which is thermal generation state-of-the-art, both in energy efficiency and in limiting environmental impact.
The plant was opened in 2007 and was the first step taken by the EGL Group, today Axpo Group, to also have in Italy its own production capacity, letting it satisfy the domestic energy demand, which was not met by the available capacity.
Therefore, Calenia Energia is a concrete example of development and modernization in Italian power plant production, which has been achieved after the liberalisation and the opening up of the energy market.
Calenia Energia SpA has its legal and administrative Headquarters in Genoa.
